Description and/or History:
JCorps is a non-religious, non-denominational volunteer force of Jewish young professionals. We group 15-30 volunteers to help at children's hospitals, soup kitchens, senior centers, and parks. Our aim is to help you make friends while making a difference! We volunteer on Sundays, and on some week nights. To volunteer, you apply for events at http://www.JCorps.org. Volunteer events are 100% free, and all volunteers are provided with a JCorps t-shirt to wear during the event (and keep!). We also provide social events, such as comedy nights, cocktail hours, concerts, parties, sporting events, BBQ's, and more. We'll make your city a bit smaller, while also making it a bit brighter! Volunteers must be unmarried and between the ages of 18 and 28 (inclusive).
JCorps was founded in 2007 by Ari Teman, named to the Jewish Week's "36 Under 36" in 2008. It's aim is to enable people across the broad Jewish spectrum to connect in big cities, such as New York, through volunteering.
