Children of Promise, NYC
Children of Promise, NYC is committed to embracing and empowering the lives of children of imprisoned parents to break the cycle of intergenerational involvement in the criminal justice system.
Description and/or History:
Children of Promise, NYC is found on the principle that all children, regardless of circumstance, deserve a fair chance at life. No child should have to forfeit their right to education, support, guidance or the opportunity to prosper. Through our comprehensive initiatives, children of imprisoned parents will obtain the necessary means to overcome obstacles, develop meaningful relationships and succeed in life. One such initiative is Project DREAM, a career based mentoring program which identifies a profession of interest to 4th-8th grade students and connects each with an adult who can provide insight and direction in pursuing the chosen occupation.
Children of Promise, NYC obtained 501C (3) status in June 2007. The organization was founded on its unyielding commitment to seeing children of incarcerated parents reach their full potential.
