Mount Hope’s mission is to revitalize the communities served by providing, safe, decent, affordable housing, economic development, youth, human and educational services.

Description and/or History:

Founded in 1986 by community residents and leaders in response to the dramatic deterioration of the Bronx, Mount Hope Housing Company, Inc. is a community development organization that rehabilitates and manages affordable housing and provides a robust array of services to help its residents achieve new opportunities to move up the economic ladder. Mount Hope offers youth services such as computer and GED classes, recreational and cultural opportunities, career counseling and academic enrichment; employment services such as job readiness, counseling and placement; and community-based asset-building services such as workshops in money management training, and help with starting businesses, buying homes and continuing education through matched fund savings accounts. Mount Hope's intense efforts in community planning and developing the community infrastructure reflect its commitment to area sustainability and can be measured in reduced crime, increased property values, a growing local economy and improved quality of life.
