Our Vision: Catholic Charities helps solve the problems of New Yorkers in need- non-Catholics and Catholics alike. The neglected child, the homeless family and the hungry senior and among those for whom we provide help and create hope. We rebuild lives and touch almost every human need promptly, locally, day in and day out, and always with compassion and dignity. We help your neighbors, as your would like to be helped if your family were in need.

Description and/or History:
Catholic Charities is a federation of more than 90 agencies. We provide help and create hope for New Yorkers in need in the Bronx, Manhattan, on Staten Island and in seven counties of the lower Hudson Valley.

Our programs and services are diverse, flexible and responsive to community needs. Our agencies range in size and scope from small daycare programs to large, multi-service agencies. Combined, our agencies provide a continuum of services that include: Nurturing Children and Youth; Feeding the Hungry and Sheltering the Homeless; Strengthening Families and Resolving Crises; Supporting the Physically and Emotionally Challenged; and Welcoming and Integrating Immigrants and Refugees.

Catholic Charities was formerly organized in 1920.
However, the work of Catholic Charities is grounded in the 19th century charity work of religious and lay people in New York City who addressed the pressing needs of the poor and uneducated, while helping thousands of immigrants find housing and employment.

Today, we are one of New York's largest social service providers committed to helping the poor, troubled, weak, and oppressed of all religious and cultural backgrounds. Through our efforts, we build up the physical, economic, intellectual, moral, cultural, and spiritual capital human beings need to live humane and flourishing lives.
