Richmond County Orchestra's (NYC) mission is to educate and to entertain,improving the quality of life by providing world class concerts and educational programs.It is also dedicated to preserving, performing and passing down classical orchestral music traditions now and for future generations as well as providing venues for living composers.
Description and/or History:
The Richmond County Orchestra is a not for profit professional symphonic orchestra producing excellent, high quality concerts and educational programs for the greater Staten Island public, at low or no ticket cost. It runs a Musicians Competition Contest for instrumentalists with no age limit! Truly a diverse organization in age, sex, ethnic and religious background the Richmond County Orchestra was honored by the New York City's Mayors Office by being chosen to participate in Immigrant Heritage Week. The Richmond County Orchestra was founded in 1998 by Maestro Alan Aurelia a conductor of international status. It produces 10-12 concerts per season offering student mentoring programs and free concerts for students & children.It serves the community as not only a symphonic orchestra but also an opera, ballet and Broadway orchestra.It has performed throughout Staten Island in venues large and small and was invited to perform at The Metropolitan and Guggenheim Museums Washington Square Park, Carnegie Hall
