The Libby Ross Breast Cancer Foundation
The mission of The Libby Ross Foundation is to make a significant difference in the lives of women afflicted with breast cancer through unique support programs and to help eradicate the disease through research and early detection.
Description and/or History:
The Libby Ross Foundation is a not-for-profit organization with a focus on outreach to those afflicted with breast cancer and awareness among our peers. We view the fight against breast cancer as a three pronged attack: (i) support and treatment for the afflicted, (ii) research for a cure and (iii) prevention and outreach to promote early detection and awareness. We want to participate in all these areas, yet we are focusing most on those areas that we believe are often overlooked.
The Libby Ross Foundation was founded in 1999 in loving memory of Elizabeth "Libby" Ross, who lost her battle with breast cancer on July 24, 1998. The Foundation is a not-for-profit organization started by Lori Ross and Marla Willner. Both of the founders have first hand experience with breast cancer in their families. Lori lost her mother to breast cancer in 1998 and Marla's mother is a two-time survivor of the disease. The Foundation was started to prevent other women and other families from experiencing the devastation of breast cancer by focusing on creating unique support programs and to help eradicate the disease through research and early detection.
