The Icla Da Silva Foundation

The Icla da Silva Foundation's mission is to save lives by recruiting bone marrow donors and by providing support services to children and adults with leukemia and other diseases treatable by marrow transplants.

Description and/or History:
We are dedicated to building a diverse marrow donor registry so patients from all ethnic backgrounds can have a better chance for life. We provide personal, financial and emotional support to people of all ages suffering from life threatening blood illnesses.
The Foundation was established in June 1992 as a nonprofit organization. It honors the life of a thirteen-year-old Brazilian girl who passed away after bravely fighting leukemia despite her family, friends and neighbors' tireless efforts to find her a matching donor.
Icla's enthusiastic and hopeful last wishes to live and help people with cancer inspired the Foundation's programs and activities.
