Global Partnership for Afghanistan (GPFA) is a fast-growing, dynamic New York non-profit organization and NGO registered in Afghanistan. GPFA’s objective is to help farmers develop profitable forestry and horticulture farm enterprises, which in turn generates sustainable employment and increases farmer incomes while also increasing the locally sourced food supply as well as improving environmental and health conditions.
Since 2004, GPFA has engaged in community-based development programs working with Afghan farmers (over 10,000 families to date) to restore their fruit and nut orchards, vineyards, woodlots, and forests.
Description and/or History:
GPFA has offices in New York City with a small administrative staff, Kabul, where the Executive Director is located, and Afghan provinces with almost 100 employees. GPFA works closely with USAID, Cornell University's Institute for Food, Agriculture and Development, the World Bank, European Union and GTZ, among others, with an annual operating budget just under $3mm.
