Christodora
Christodora is a non-profit, non-sectarian operating foundation that offers environmental education and leadership training to motivated New York City public school students.
Description and/or History:
Christodora’s Ecology Group operates in collaboration with the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx. Using the Garden’s remarkable facilities as their outdoor classroom, some 40 junior-high school and high school students meet weekly on Sundays and focus their minds on a broad range of fundamental ecological concepts and nature study. These concepts and studies include the water quality of the Bronx River and the impact that wooly adelgids, a type of insect, have on the health of hemlock trees at the Garden.
