ISSUE Project Room
ISSUE Project Room (ISSUE) is an open and versatile environment in which both established and emerging artists can conduct, perform, and exhibit powerful new work. Through an evolving collaboration with curators, artists, and educators, ISSUE presents a wide range of artistic projects that challenge and expand conventional practices in art, fostering a culture of innovation that extends to the broader community.
Description and/or History:
In the past six years under the leadership of Founder and Artistic Director Suzanne Fiol ISSUE has grown steadily, now producing 200 music, literary, visual arts, sound design, film/video events each year. ISSUE has garnered praise from established artists, audiences, and media alike, and has built a reputation as "the" venue for innovative art of the highest integrity. In 2007, ISSUE was selected out of a pool of 100 competing cultural organizations to receive a 20-year lease to the historic 5,000 sq. ft. theater at 110 Livingston, in which ISSUE will present 4,000 programs reaching 1,000,000 people. The space is in need of repair in order to bring it to code, make it safe for the public, and make it a suitable presenting space for multiple disciplines. We are currently fundraising to achieve 2.5 million dollars in order to renovate the space and grow our organization.
