Working in Support of Education was founded in 1998 with the mission to provide educational support services to secondary schools, build financial literacy, foster business and social entrepreneurship, and prepare students for college and the global workplace. w!se maintains a portfolio of programs that are built on four pillars -- relevancy, strong partnerships, real world experiences, and effective evaluation and assessment. Annually, w!se’s programs reach nearly 30,000 public secondary school students from predominantly low-to-moderate income level urban areas.

Description and/or History:
w!se was established in 1998 as an outgrowth of a management consulting firm, MBA (Merging Business & Academics), that was founded in 1993.

w!se’s programs are well known for their pedagogical excellence and innovation. In recognition, we are the recipient of numerous awards, notably the 2006 Award for Innovation by American Banker and 2007 US Department of the Treasury’s John H. Sherman award for Excellence in Financial Education, which was bestowed on our Financial Literacy Certification Program.
w!se’s maintains a portfolio of educational programs and manages additional programs on behalf of third party organizations. w!se programs are: the Sanford I. Weill Institute for Lifelong Learning at New York City’s High School of Economics & Finance, the Financial Literacy Certification Program, the Quality of Life Program, the Global Business Challenge and the Global Communications Institute. w!se manages the Euro Challenge for the US Delegation of the European Commission and the National Business Plan Competition for the US Network of Virtual Enterprises.

In New York City, W!se serves more than 100 schools in all five boroughs.
