Description and/or History:
Education & Training Services Program Overview:
Out of School Time (OST) Programs:
Each school year we run two (2) OST programs for a total of 500 youth in grades K-6 at 2 area public schools. Activities during the school year focus on academic support, enhancement, and remediation, most of which are offered to the children through integrated enrichment activities. While traditional homework help, and one-on-one and small group tutoring is available daily, literacy is also reinforced through a drama club, school newspaper, computer classes and various other creative enrichment programming.
A summer camp component to this program is available for a total of youth for a period of 8 weeks from July-August, Mondays-Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm. Approximately 310 students are served throughout the summer project. The summer component also includes breakfast, lunch and snack for the participants.
Registration for both components is filled upon first registration, and long waiting lists exist, from which we continuously take new participants as program spaces open.
Neighborhood Development Area (NDA) Program:
Each school year we also run a Neighborhood Development Area program for a total of 60 youth in grades 7-8 at a local public school. The NDA program for youth provides afterschool activities from September –June. This program for older youth provides afterschool activities from September –June, Tues. and Thurs. from 3:00-6:00pm.
Graffiti Removal/Educational Support Community Service Summer Youth Internship Program:

Each summer 35 students ages 14-19 from various area school in nearby neighborhoods are selected to participate in our Neighborhood Improvement Program which operates daily throughout the summer, and on some Saturdays, weather permitting.
