]Nazareth Housing promotes housing stability and economic independence among poor families and youth of New York City by providing transitional shelter, homelessness prevention services, self-sufficiency education, youth programming and supportive housing.
Description and/or History:
Nazareth Housing is a non-sectarian, non profit agency, that began as a grassroots effort on the Lower East Side to support housing needs of families, especially women with children, and those most vulnerable to economic, ethnic or gender disparity in obtaining stable and safe housing. In May 2008, Nazareth Housing was recognized by the NYC Department of Homeless Services as the leading over-all provider of family shelter services in the City in 2007.
