Leap is a non-profit organization committed to improving the quality of public education through a hands-on, arts-based approach to teaching the academic curriculum. Leap empowers students to reach their full potential.

Description and/or History:
Founded in 1977, Leap was one of the first agencies to conduct academically focused arts programs in New York City schools. Leap has always focused on literacy and the arts. Started in four schools in Manhattan, Leap has grown and now works with 8,500 teachers and over 200,000 students in about 300 schools each year. We serve every region in New York City and have also served communities in New Jersey, Long Island, and Connecticut. We also work with museums and cultural institutions; conduct after-school, weekend, and summer programs for teachers, students, and parents; develop and produce innovative, experience-based educational curricula; and present at state and national conferences.
