Caring for children and young adults in crisis for over a century. SCO Family of Services works with those most vulnerable to overcome the devastating impact of poverty, neglect, abuse, and developmental and mental challenges, as they strive for a brighter, more independent future. A nonprofit agency, SCO Family of Services strengthens the foundation of families in need throughout the New York metropolitan area. Offering a continuum of care, SCO Family of Services meets the unique needs of each individual through our broad array of leading and innovative community based programs.

Description and/or History:
Core Values

We believe that not only the goal itself, but also the way to achieving our mission is very important. Therefore, our actions (both towards clients and employees) are guided by the following 5 principles.

CARE AND COMPASSION

We strive to enhance the lives of all who work with us and all we serve. We ensure that our programs are safe, therapeutic and caring environments. We are committed to protecting the privacy of every individual.

EMPOWERMENT

We honor the strengths of individuals, families and communities and offer hope, empowerment and advocacy.

ACCEPTANCE

We value the total person and their individual potential. We nurture the ethnic, cultural heritage and sexual orientation of every person we serve and with whom we work. We appreciate the unique needs of each individual and will provide the appropriate service for each individual entrusted to our care and strive to provide appropriate opportunities to those with whom we work.

EXCELLENCE

We dedicate ourselves to employ the highest standards and to achieve excellence and professionalism.

FAMILY FOCUSED

We embrace families as our partners and conduct our work within the framework of the family as the unit of attention within the community and neighborhood. We strive to create the appropriate, least restrictive permanent situation for each individual.

Carrying out our mission according to those principles, we will at all times manage our finances in the most cost effective way, in order to make optimal use of our resources.
