Description and/or History:
Unique People Services (UPS) is a NYC-based non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation founded in 1991. UPS is dedicated to providing a home and supportive services to personal with special and challenging needs -- men, women and children we consider to be members of our family. Our staff strives to make our homes the warmest, safest & most welcoming environments in which to live. Since 1991, the Agency has rapidly grown. We currently have 19 supportive housing programs throughout the Bronx, Manhattan & Queens. Each year we service over 500 persons by providing housing, meals & nutritional guidance, healthcare services, recreational activities, counseling from independent living to social services, employment referrals, drug treatment referrals & adherence. Under the auspices of the NYS HRA HIV/AIDS Services Administration, Unique People Services has six (6) programs: two (2) transitional housing programs (Bronx & Manhattan) & four (4) scattered site housing programs (Manhattan, Queens & 2 - Bronx). Under the auspices of the NYS Office of Mental Retardation & Developmental Disabilities, UPS has eight (8) MR programs (4-Bronx & 4 Queens). And, with the NYS Office of Mental Health, UPS has five (5) mental heath-housing programs all in the Bronx (2 - CR/SRO's & 3 scattered/supportive housing programs).
