We are Advocates who Empower these groups through education, trainings and workshop to become more productive participants in the Rehabilitation and Stabilization of our Community. Our services are provide via interns and volunteers in the fields of Mental Health, Education, Substance Abuse, Nursing and Business. Our Volunteers work with students/children and families who need one-one help with behavioral, motivational, self esteem and educational issues.

Description and/or History:
Thornhill was started in 2004 to honor the Work, Dreams and Memory of Mrs. Carmen Thornhill-Bannister. She died Oct 12, 2001 right after the World Trade Center Tragedy. She died of loneliness, feeling a sense of hopelessness and helplessness. She dedicated her life to feeding the Hungry, raising the children of parents who needed help in her community, buying clothing for those who were in need and caring for the sick. She used her Social Security Check and any donations from friends to help others. The Organization now works with children in our Daycare (6 months -5 years old), Youth (ages 6-18 years old) in our Mentoring Program, Tutoring Programs, Youth Groups, Women Groups and Men Groups. We have received a Citation from the City Council and Proclamation from The Borough President's Office. We have also provide work skills training for the City W.E.P Program and Vanguard Empowerment Center training site for the Youth Workers Program. We work closely with our Block Assoc. and Community Board # 3 in Brooklyn.
