Peer Health Exchange

Organization Details:

Logo Peer Health Exchange

Peer Health Exchange gives teenagers the knowledge and skills they need to make healthy decisions. We do this by training college students to teach a comprehensive health curriculum in public high schools that lack health education.

Our vision is to give as many teenagers as possible the knowledge and skills they need to make healthy decisions by building a health education organization that serves teenagers nationwide.

Description and/or History:
In 2009-2010, PHE NYC will train college student volunteers at Columbia University, New York University, Pace University, CUNY - Hunter College, CUNY - Lehman College and Fordham University to be health educators. These volunteers will teach one of ten health topic workshops that comprise PHE's comprehensive health curriculum. In 09-10, PHE volunteers at college sites in Manhattan and the Bronx will serve nearly 3,450 ninth grade students in NYC public high schools.
