Organization Details:
Grassroots Initiative was founded to ensure that public service is accessible regardless of race, creed or economic status. Since 2005, the organization has served as the "go-to" point for individuals interested in running for elected office in New York's five boroughs.
Description and/or History:
Encourage leadership that looks like America. Attract new voices and energy into public decision-making.
Restore faith in democracy. Celebrate outstanding examples of effective and efficient public decision-making.
Help decision-makers to better utilize public input. Promote and distribute innovative models for governments and corporations to encourage constructive public participation.
Think big, start small. Foster positive change at a local level; revive democratic action from the bottom-up.
Get things done. Focus on results and stress commonalities, not differences.
