FLIA's mission is to
help children and families grow physically healthy, emotionally strong, socially involved, educationally prepared and more culturally aware. FLIA's vision is to build cohesive, mutually supportive, strong families and communities.

Description and/or History:
FLIA is a community based drug prevention and intervention organization that has been providing drug prevention education and counseling, social service and community building programs to children and families since 1990.

FLIA is a non-profit, non-sectarian, 501-C3 tax exempt program that is funded by New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services and private donations.

FLIA operates an after-school program for school age children 5 through 12, and a teens 13 and up. The program provides an escort service from local schools in the area to ensure the safety of the participants. The following activities are offered:

Homework Assistance / Study Labs
Computer Literacy
Dance / Fitness Training / Tae-Kwon Do
Individual / Group / Family Counseling
Educational / Cultural / Recreational Trips

Parents and Community Residents are offered the following:

Computer Literacy Classes
Weight Loss / Aerobics / Body Building
Nutrition & Healthy Cooking Classes
Resume Writing / Job Interview Workshops
Parenting Skills / Stress Reduction & Management

FLIA operates a Summer Day Camp during the months of July and August. Children between the ages of 5 and 12 attend camp daily for activities designed for educational, social, and recreational enrichment.
