The Way To Work
The Way To Work, formerly Vocational Foundation Inc., is a nonprofit workforce development program that encourages young people to achieve their highest potential through hands-on-training and education. Our comprehensive individualized approach to career-specific training, GED preparation, professional and personal counseling, job placement and retention services, creates lasting impact throughout the NYC community.
Description and/or History:
Founded in 1936, The Way to Work offers free job training in Energy Efficiency, Medical Administrative Assistant, Administrative Technology and Security Guard. Participants learn skills in a professional setting. They dress in office attire and punch a time clock when they enter and as they leave for the day. Those who lack a high school diploma have the opportunity to prepare for and take the GED on our site. Career exploration and college preparation is also important to us. Many graduates go on to college. It is a great feeling to be able to influence someone who dropped out of school and prepare them for a future they didn't think was possible. Through our program they are able to obtain their GED, gain employment skills, secure a job and go to college. Your guidance may help shape our city's future.
