]Carnegie Hill Neighbors was founded to preserve the architectural heritage of Carnegie Hill. Description and/or History:
Carnegie Hill Neighbors was founded in 1970 to preserve the architectural heritage of Carnegie Hill. We led the effort to create and later enlarge the Carnegie Hill Historic district and to modify zoning regulations, have opposed incursion of apartment towers and other inappropriate construction, and continually address challenges to the community. CHN enhances the neighborhood with the Park Avenue Malls seasonal plantings, nightly security Patrol Cars, street tree care, storefront improvements, and ensuring that the avenues are cleaned. Through our semi-annual newsletter and website we educate residents about topics ranging from recycling and other environmental issues to the architectural styles in the neighborhood. We also serve as a conduit between local social agencies and our residents in need of their services. CHN is sustained by the hard work of volunteers and the generous contributions of its members.
