New York Foundling

The New York Foundling, in the tradition of openness and compassion of it's sponsors the Sisters of Charity, helps children, youth and adults in need through advocacy, preventive and in-care services that help them reach their full potential and that strengthen families and communities.

Description and/or History:
We adapt our extensive network of services to meet the needs of our region's most vulnerable children and families, guided by the following principles:

Every child deserves to be protected and nurtured.
Every child's well-being is inextricably linked to that of their families and communities.
Listening to the families and communities we serve is the best way to keep our mission relevant to current needs in a changing world. To help children and families succeed.

Founded in 1869 as a home for orphans and abandoned children, New York Foundling has continuously and conscientiously expanded its scope of activities to meet community needs. While our name as a "Foundling ," meaning "orphanage," reflects our early work with abandoned children, we have evolved from these beginnings into a nonprofit social service agency working with both children and entire families
