Description and/or History:
United Way focuses on three Action Areas, and helps build capacity and leadership of health and human service organizations through our efforts in Strengthening New York City Nonprofits.
Our Action Areas Education: Ensuring the school readiness of New York City children, and helping at-risk youth overcome barriers to learning.
Income: Helping individuals and families achieve financial stability, build assets and savings.
Health: Bringing healthy, nutritious food and information about affordable, quality health care to low-income neighborhoods.
Strengthening NYC Nonprofits: Ensuring the viability of human service nonprofits and developing effective professional and volunteer leaders for the future.
