]Hour Children is committed to the compassionate and loving care of children of incarcerated women. Our outreach includes support and empowerment for mothers upon their reunification with their families. All persons are encouraged to live and interact with dignity and respect.
Description and/or History:
Hour Children provides for formerly incarcerated mothers and their children. Hour Children offers a variety of programs such as:
-Hour Early Learning Program helps working mothers by providing affordable day care
-Hour Working Women's Program provides education and job training for our mothers
-Hour Pantry assists the community with the necessary food resources
-Hour Friends in Deed is a mentoring program for children who have an incarcerated parent
-Hour Thrift provides clothing, household items and furniture for Hour Children and the local residents
Hour Children was founded to serve the needs of children and families involved in the criminal justice system. The name was chosen because these children's lives are dictated by the HOURS of sentencing and visitations, as well as the hopeful promise of the long anticipated hour of reunion.
