The Mission of Encore Community services is to provide care and service to the elderly of the Clinton/Times Square/Midtown communities and to any elderly person who comes to us to help them with their daily needs that they may live with dignity and decency in a non-institutional manner, in a safe and caring environment. Encore remains faithful to its mission...'By nurturing, respecting and enabling, Encore hopes to improve the quality of an older person's life, in an approach that emanates from the core of Encore's commitment. Description and/or History:
Encore Community Services provides services in the following four major programs:

  • Encore Senior Center opened daily M-F, 9-4 and includes Home Delivered Meals to 200 homebound and about 320 dinners in the Center; Center is opened on Sat for Home Delivered Meals to 400 seniors from 14-59 Streets.
  • Encore 49 is a permanent residential facility for 89 persons with special needs many of whom have chronic mental health histories. This program is staffed with a Director of Social Services and case managers; all supportive assistance as needed; recreational program; and supportive environment.
  • Encore's Homebound Program consists of
  • Home Delivered Meal (M-Sat);
  • Friendly Visiting Program in which a volunteer commits to visit one senior, once a week;
  • Escort and Shopping which assists frail seniors with medical appointments or shopping needs;
  • End of Life Program that enables a senior to prepare documents that deal with end of life
issues. If the senior qualifies for free legal
services, these documents can be prepared ahead of
time. For those who do not financially qualify
education and available resources will be shared.
  • Encore West a HUD apartment building for low income seniors on 10 Ave& 51-52 St. It consists of 83 apartments.

  • Throughout its Thirtieth year history in the midtown Times Square/Clinton communities of New York City, Encore has provided seniors with a range of caring and quality services to help them live independent and dignified lives.
