The Centro has provided a place of community and assistance for recent immigrants in New York City since 1975. Through evening education programs, community organizing and cultural events, we help hundreds of adults each year accomplish their goals, such as speaking English, furthering their education, and negotiating in the workplace. Please see our website for more information, www.centronyc.org. Also, you can email us at info@centronyc.org.

Description and/or History:
Classes are offered in English, basic computer skills, and preparation for the INS citizenship exam. An all-volunteer teaching and administrative staff makes classes available at very low cost. With the addition of Spanish language classes, the Centro fosters a friendly community environment that promotes cross-cultural understanding and support. We also provide free/low-cost legal services for immigrants. Although founded by and for Latin American newcomers, we welcome immigrants from all over the world.
Centro De Educación De Trabajadores was founded in 1975 in NYC, and has provided a place of community and assistance for recent immigrants ever since. Please visit www.centronyc.org to learn more. Please note that all Centro staff are volunteers and we are usually in the office only Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, during the term. Therefore the best way to reach us is by email rather than by phone - thanks!
