]The Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York seeks to uphold the dignity of each person by serving the basic needs of the poor, troubled, frail and oppressed of all religions. We collaborate with the parish and Catholic and non-Catholic partners to build a compassionate and just society. Through a network of administered, sponsored and affiliated agencies, Catholic Charities delivers, coordinates and advocates for quality human services and programs touching almost every human need.
Description and/or History:
Catholic Charities Community Services (CCCS) addresses the needs of indigent and low-income immigrants and refugees throughout metropolitan New York and at satellite offices in its seven-county jurisdiction. With a staff of hotline counselors, case managers, counselors, social workers, lawyers and paralegals, job developers and assistants, CCCS provides immigration information, referral, counseling and legal representation to documented immigrants and the undocumented, and a full-range of resettlement, social and employment services to newly arrived refugees, asylees, Cuban-Haitian Entrants and victims of human trafficking. Multi-lingual case managers resettle refugees and asylees into supportive communities. Employment services help refugees and related populations to achieve self-sufficiency quickly, while assisting with services that remove barriers to employment. We offer cultural orientation activities, Vocational English-for-Speakers-of-Other-Languages classes, legal services and advocacy, employment preparation and training, job development and general case management services.
