The Community Journal Jackson Heights works on local economic development issues, to strengthen commercial corridors, improve residential quality of life, celebrate the diversity of Northwestern Queens, and to support immigrant and diverse neighbors. The Journal produces a fully bilingual English-Spanish newspaper every two months and holds workshops and forums to provide community education.

Description and/or History:
Key activities of the Community Journal include the Jackson Heights Film & Food Festival and the publication of the Community Journal, both of which emphasize serving Northwestern and Central Queens. These projects have included drives to expand civic engagement and participation, and to provide high quality arts and cultural activities that is accessible to the diverse public. The Community Journal is headquartered in Jackson Heights, very accessible to public transportation.
The Community Journal in its original incarnation began in 2005 as a community-led initiative to strengthen the local Jackson Heights economy and to help unite neighbors from the South and Central American, East Asian, South Asian, Caribbean and Eastern and Western European communities.
