To empower people with HIV illness and their loved ones to live with dignity and independence through the provision of Supportive Housing, Advocacy and the sharing of our expertise.

Description and/or History:
Bailey House is the second oldest AIDS organization in New York City. Bailey House has served thousands of PWA's and their families with safe, comfortable and permanent housing through its two nationally recognized housing programs: Bailey Holt House (a 44 unit congregate facility) and the Supportive Housing Apartment Program (SHAP), a scatter-site housing program.

In 1983, a group of West Village businesspeople, clergy and activists founded The AIDS Resource Center, renamed Bailey House in 1995. Our original mission was simple: people with HIV/AIDS deserve to live and die with dignity. Since 1983, advances in treatment have allowed us to focus on how our clients will live rather than on how they will die.

Today, Bailey House's supportive housing programs are models for HIV/AIDS organizations throughout the world.
