Broadway Community, Inc.

Broadway Community Inc. (BCI) is a volunteer based non-profit organization serving homeless and low-income people in New York City.

Description and/or History:
The heart of the community is the 4-star Soup Kitchen, which serves up to 100 people restaurant-style 3 days/week.

Other services include Art Therapy, the Empowerment Group, yoga, computer classes, knitting classes, medical and social advocacy and referrals, nutrition classes, job-readiness training, and a 10-bed senior men's shelter.

Broadway Community Inc. has been in existence for over 10 years. It began as a drug & alcohol rehab center and has since evolved into the holistic and welcoming community that exists today, where many of the staff and volunteers are people currently and formerly served as community members by BCI.
