The office is responsible for developing City policies concerning people with disabilities, overseeing and assisting in implementation of City compliance with laws recognizing rights of people with disabilities, providing information on disability related matters and housing referrals.

Mayoral Agency
Established by Executive Order No. 19 in 1990,the Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities functions as a liaison between the disability community and the City government, and works collaboratively with other agencies to assure that the rights and needs of people with disabilities are included in all City initiatives.
