The Mentoring Partnership of New York (MPNY)
The Mentoring Partnership of New York's mission is to be an ADVOCATE for the expansion of quality mentoring opportunities for New York City youth and a RESOURCE for mentors and mentoring initiatives citywide.
Description and/or History:
The Mentoring Partnership of New York (MPNY) is a non-profit umbrella organization that provides support and assistance to over 150 direct service community-based and faith-based mentoring programs in New York City. As an advocate and resource for mentoring, MPNY helps individuals who are interested in mentoring identify appropriate mentoring opportunities near where they live, work, worship or spend their free time.
Established in 1992, The Mentoring Partnership of New York is an affiliate of MENTOR/National Mentoring Partnership, Inc. MENTOR was created in 1990 by financiers and philanthropists Geoff Boisi and Ray Chambers with the belief that what was needed at that time was not another direct-service mentoring program, but rather, a unique umbrella organization to connect the many diverse existing programs to one another by advocating for and supporting mentoring with one voice.
