To enhance the worldwide image of New York City and enrich the New York experience by connecting visitors with knowledgeable and enthusiastic volunteers

Description and/or History:
Volunteers support the mission by being friendly, courteous and helpful and by showing a genuine devotion to and respect for New York City. In addition, a Greeter shall be thoroughly familiar with any neighborhood that she/he shows to a visitor.
In May, 1992, Big Apple Greeter was launched as a non-profit organization to welcome visitors, both domestic and international, to a New Yorker's New York. Since then more than 85,000 visitors have been shown New York City by our Volunteer Greeters.
