Our goal as a hospice is to provide comfort, care and choice to our patients and their families during this difficult time in their lives. This is an excellent opportunity to gain office experience in a friendly and caring environment. Ideal for retirees and people in a work transition. Some of the ways that volunteers/interns support our staff members are:

Making new patient charts
Sorting patient documentation for filing
Archiving patient records
Calling to confirm physician contact information
Copying/Faxing
Mailing Orders
Sorting/Distributing Mail
Checking Hospice Voicemail/Distributing messages

Here is the List of Requirements to become a VNSNY Hospice Office Volunteer/Intern:

  1. Completed Application.
  2. Two letters of recommendation from employers, co-workers, or friends.
  3. Urinalysis. This service is free and performed by Mobile Health Management Services, Inc. and are located in each borough.
  4. Interview with Volunteer Program Manager.
  5. Interview with the Business Program Manager
  6. Six-month commitment.

    Directions:

     The Bronx office is located on the campus of Mercy College, near Einstein and Calvary Hospitals. By train: take the #6 train to Middletown Road, walk down Westchester Avenue, make a right onto Waters Place. By bus: take the Bx21. It will drop you at the end of our driveway. There is a shuttle bus that goes from the Guard Building to our office. We also have locations in Jackson Heights (The Bulova Building), Brooklyn (E 15th St & Kings Highway) and Manhattan (34th St & Broadway)

      Walk distance (in minutes): 10
      Nearest Bus Stop: Bx21, 2 minute walk
