Volunteer Opportunity Details: |
|
Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church seeks volunteers help to provide safe, caring shelter for homeless individuals who might otherwise sleep on the streets. Volunteers prepare snacks, distribute linens and towels, clean up, and spend time chatting with guests. Volunteers stay the night at the shelter, and everyone including the volunteer gets a good night's sleep. Hours are from 8pm and 7am. A one night per month commitment is preferred.
Volunteers for the overnight shelter program attend an open house that provides an overview of The Partnership, homelessness and volunteer opportunities. Our Client Service and Shelter Training is for volunteers 18 and older who have attended an Open House and wish to work directly with clients.
Necessary skills include the ability to work independently, dependability, good judgment, flexibility, good-natured, and a friendly disposition.
This opportunity is sponsored by: The Partnership for the Homeless
We need volunteers who are free at these times
