Step by Step:
The goal of the Step By Step Health Literacy Program is to empower and teach parents to recognize key child development milestones and potential red flags. Health Literacy Volunteers will work with parents one to one in the waiting room of the Outpatient Pediatric Department on the NY Methodist Campus. This is an opportunity for volunteers to impact the lives or our community’s children.
We are especially looking for volunteers who are: newly retired, have backgrounds in education, and comfortable speaking and teaching one-on-one. People who are bi-lingual are especially encouraged to apply. We are looking for compassionate, caring people. People who are outgoing and friendly. People who are looking to help fellow community members.
Step by Step volunteers will be thoroughly trained.
Requirements:
Minimum age: Mature
Minimum time: Volunteers will be scheduled for one shift a week for a minimum of six months.
Times: Monday- Friday 9:00 am-12pm or 1pm - 4:00 pm
