Each year, thousands of New Yorkers are forced to make a choice between buying a winter coat and putting food on the table or meeting other basic survival needs. That’s why since 1989, New York Cares has collected over one million gently used coats from caring New Yorkers and distributed them to thousands of men, women, and children who would otherwise be cold.
You can help this year by donating a coat or hosting a coat collection to support the New York Cares Coat Drive, which assist 400,000 disadvantaged New Yorkers annually.

Serving at a soup kitchen is better than 4 star dining

I'm a self proclaimed soup kitchen groupie. New York Cares Hunger projects have allowed me serve the poor, the homeless and disenfranchised in soup kitchens and by delivering meals to the homebound all around the city. Nothing could be more fun!
