Volunteer Opportunity Details:

The role of the Family Resource Room Volunteer is to work as part of the patient care team. The volunteer provides general assistance, emotional support and comfort measures to patients and their families. The volunteer communicates with staff and families/caregivers as to the status of the patient. The volunteer eases stress and anxiety and maintains a comfortable, private space where families and caregivers wait and may conference with physicians and nursing staff.

College education is preferred, but not required. The prospective volunteer must exhibit maturity, sensitivity to others and excellent interpersonal skills. The prospective volunteer must be capable of performing under stressful, emotionally sensitive conditions and must be able to use excellent judgment.
