Volunteer Opportunity Details: |
|
Patient Navigation refers to the support, guidance and assistance that the American Cancer Society provides to those individuals diagnosed with cancer, their families, caregivers and friends. Our goal is to assist survivors to retain control over their lives and to be knowledgeable about their options in order to make appropriate health- related decisions. This support extends from basic information to more complex needs of direct support programs, transportation, local/national resources, etc. Our Patient Navigation services suport survivors in their efforts in managing the complexities of our health care system. The level and detail of service depends wholly on the needs of the constituent.
The Volunteer Patient Navigators receive 6 hours of formal training and 15 hours of on-the-job training. Navigators are part of the American Cancer Society's volunteer program and receive ongoing support and recognition from the American Cancer Society
