On New York Cares' Health and Wellness projects, volunteers bring much-needed companionship to long-term hospital residents and individuals living with devastating illnesses, such as HIV/AIDS. Volunteers host parties, prepare and deliver meals, knit, play music or games, and more with patients who are often isolated and lonely.

Serving at a soup kitchen is better than 4 star dining

I'm a self proclaimed soup kitchen groupie. New York Cares Hunger projects have allowed me serve the poor, the homeless and disenfranchised in soup kitchens and by delivering meals to the homebound all around the city. Nothing could be more fun! posted by Julia Masi on August 13, 2009
