Theater for The New City is seeking a Receptionist for its Main Office, weekdays between 10am and 4pm, or evenings from 4pm to 10pm. The specific hours can be tailored to your schedule.

Responsibilities include: light typing, light filing, office errands as needed, light computer work (Mac experience preferred), and serving as Theater's receptionist during those hours (includes answering phone calls, taking ticket reservations for shows, checking Theater's voice mail, making phone calls as necessary. taking phone messages and making sure messages are left for the proper party).

About Theater for the New City:

Theater for the New City (TNC) is a not-for-profit theater that has been at the vanguard of American theater for the past three and a half decades. TNC annually presents 30 to 40 premieres in its Resident Theater Program and provides two free annual Community Festivals, and a free Annual Summer Street Theater tour to all five boroughs of New York.

Many prominent playwrights and performers of the last quarter century have found TNC's Resident Theater Program instrumental to their careers, among them Sam Shepard, Tim Robbins, Moises Kaufman, Richard Foreman, Charles Busch, Maria Irene Fornes, Adrien Brody, Donald Margulies, Romulus Linney and Miguel PiƱero.

No other theater in NY can claim the same combination of accessibility and artistry. Through its low ticket price (still only $10-$15!), its many ethnic productions and its many free festivals, TNC seeks to develop theater audiences and inspire future theater artists from the often-overlooked low-income minority communities of New York City. TNC productions have won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and over 40 OBIE Awards for excellence in every theatrical discipline. TNC is also the only cultural center to have won the Mayor's Stop the Violence Award for community services.

Must be personable and responsible, particularly on the phone. Experience with Macintosh computers very helpful. Strong organizational skills a plus.
