Volunteer Opportunity Details: |
|
Are you a college student looking to gain patient care experience, working in partnership with nursing management? Or perhaps you are simply looking for a meaningful volunteer opportunity to improve patient care.
Beth Israel Medical Center is recruiting volunteers for a special customer service program titled "Raising the Bar on Patient Service," where volunteers will provide concierge-type services in two nursing units.
Applicants accepted to this special program will gain valuable and practical experience in patient service, while making a difference in patients' lives during a difficult and challenging time. Responsibilities include:
· Welcoming new patients to the unit and orienting them to their rooms.
· Identifying and managing follow up on patient requests and concerns, to ensure overall satisfaction and continuity of care.
· Conducting chart audits (working in partnership with nursing management), to ensure that all necessary paperwork is completed and included.
· Assisting with patient discharges.
Beth Israel's "Raising the Bar on Patient Service" program is a unique volunteer opportunity, reserved for mature individuals who will embrace their volunteer experience just as they would a meaningful and paying job. Placement in the program requires a minimum six-month commitment of at least one 2-hour shift per week (Monday through Friday only).
If you are interested in learning more about the program, please e-mail TWilliam@chpnet.org. Please include your phone number, the hours you are available to volunteer and a brief description of why you think you would be a good fit for this opportunity.
Applicants must have excellent communication and customer service skills, be detail oriented and must be comfortable interacting with hospital personnel and patients who may be seriously ill.
Bi-lingual English-Spanish/Mandarin/Russian a plus, but not required.
This opportunity is sponsored by: Beth Israel Medical Center
