Volunteer Opportunity Details:

The Community Board is looking for someone to coordinate volunteer and promotion activities to celebrate the centennial of the Grand Concourse between Fordham Road and Mosholu Parkway. This person would encourage residents, property owners, businesses, and institutions to create and participate in activities on the Concourse. These activities include but are not limited to:
-Green/gardening projects to enhance the center medians and side streets
-Encourage schools to do activities on the Concourse/Poe Park
-Work with local elected officials and organizations to purchase street banners for the Concourse.
-Identify local events and create a "Concourse Calendar" for residents.
-Organize community volunteers to clean up a section or block from litter, graffiti, etc.
-Foster a sense of community amongst residents

Good communication skills are required for working with this diverse community. Someone with a talent for coordinating volunteers, event promotion, and working with organizations is a plus. This position offers flexibility regarding actual programs implemented, limited by creativity and available resources.
