NFTE Marketing & Communications Volunteer, Headquarters
Official Job Description

NFTE, the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship with global headquarters based in New York City, is seeking a Marketing & Communications Volunteer.
10-15 hours/week
Unpaid

Organization Background

The Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) is an IRS approved 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. NFTE teaches entrepreneurship education programs to young people from low-income communities.

NFTE’s strategy for achieving this mission is to form partnerships with schools, universities and community-based organizations, create innovative experiential curricula, train and support teachers and youth workers, and provide supportive alumni services. Since its founding in 1987, NFTE has reached over 230,000 students. NFTE has active programs in 22 states and 12 countries.

Responsibilities
• Assist with creating content for and posting webpages for program office websites using content management software (Adobe Contribute – familiarity with the program is helpful but not required)
• Assit with reading essays to determine winners of NFTE’s first-ever student and essay contests
• Manage organization’s profiles on Facebook and YouTube
• Create filing system for alumni profiles
• Work with outside consultant to locate NFTE alumni and schedule interviews
• Track media coverage for HQ and program offices
• Manage article reprint process for HQ and program offices
• Research and identify promotional items for HQ and program offices
• Other administrative duties as assigned

Qualifications
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Detail-oriented

This position is from June – August, 2009. Reports to the Director of Communications.

Salary: unpaid.
