ISSUE Project Room seeks a dynamic writer to assist our organization in its next stage of development. In the past six years and under the leadership of Founder and Artistic Director Suzanne Fiol, ISSUE has grown steadily and now produces more than 200 experimental and Avant-Garde music, literary, visual arts, sound design, and film/video events each year. Our programs continue to garner high praise from established artists, audience, and media such as The NY Times, ArtForum, The New Yorker and more. Our organization was recently selected from a pool of 100 competing cultural organizations to receive a 20-year rent-free lease to the beautiful and historic theater space at 110 Livingston in Downtown Brooklyn. In this space, ISSUE will present more than 4,000 programs reaching more than 1,000,000 people across the next 2 decades. You would be a a critical component of this process and gain hands-on experience working in a nonprofit arts organization, composing effective grant proposals and drafting project budgets; contacting foundation programming officers; and working with staff to insure grants timelines and reporting requirements are met. Volunteers should plan to work at least 10-15 hours per week.
We are happy to provide you with the necessary skills to begin and excel as a grants researcher and writer. The only pre-requisite is that volunteers are confident writers with an eye for detail.
