Volunteer Opportunity Details:

I'm interested in this opportunity

The AmeriCorps program at Grand Street Settlement is entering its thirteenth year and currently seeking volunteers to participate in one of the most fulfilling paid internships of a lifetime. Following ideals set forth both by GSS and AmeriCorps’ focus on community service and civil responsibility, our volunteers have not only participated in a wide range of community service projects, but have begun a path within the social services that not only enriched the lives of those receiving the service, but have opened up new possibilities to our volunteers.

As an AmeriCorps member, not only are our members guided on a road to self-fulfillment through benevolent deeds of community service, but they are able to receive a great benefit that many other community service initiatives do not provide. Members are compensated through a monthly living allowance, and upon completion of the required 450, 675, or 900 hours of service, they receive an educational scholarship up to $2,362.50.

Available positions include, but are not limited to: Administrative Assistant; Afterschool Group Leader (age groups: K-5, 10-14, 14-18, and young adults 18+); Activity Specialist (arts & crafts, dance, drama, fashion, music production, and sports); Kitchen Staff; Early Childhood Classroom Assistant/Program Aide; Single Stop Intake Specialist; Grantwriter/Development Intern; Maintenance; Youth Mentor (LGBT Program); College & Career Discovery Program Assistant; and Technology & Media Center Clubhouse Assistant.

By joining the program, volunteers will not only receive life experience that could possibly guide them toward a career in the human services, but they would become part of a national legacy that is bound to gain for them recognition that others may not.

If you are interested in this opportunity and are at least 17 years of age or older; a U.S. citizen, National, or lawful permanent resident; can serve a minimum of 15 hours per week; available during after-school hours; and willing to devote your time from October to May, please feel free to contact our office with any inquiries you may have regarding the application process as applications are currently being accepted.

Please forward your resume and a brief letter of interest to Raquel Marion at rmarion@grandstreet.org and indicate which position(s) you are interested in and how you heard about it.
