The New York Botanical Garden is currently recruiting Garden Guides!
Are you passionate about plants, gardening, landscape design, or museum education? If so, The New York Botanical Garden will train you to lead tours of our 250-acre oasis in the Bronx, through 15 curated gardens and our 50-acre native forest. Docent training sessions will cover basic botany, horticulture, landscape design, the history of NYBG, as well as communication and basic docent practices.
Trainees must complete ten required courses which formulate the basic components to most tours of the Garden. During this time, we recommend and suggest docent trainees participate in other NYBG volunteer events. Trainees will also receive volunteer benefits, which include: free admission to Garden Grounds, Conservatory, Specialty Gardens, and all tours for the volunteer and two guests, free on-site parking, and free enrollment in pre-selected NYBG Continuing Education classes upon fulfillment of required volunteer hours.
Our Fall training sessions will be held on September 26th and October 3rd, from 10am – 4pm. If interested in joining our prestigious Docent/Garden Guide program, please contact the Volunteer Office at The New York Botanical Garden.
