CAMBA is a non-profit agency that provides services that connect people with opportunities to enhance their quality of life.

CAMBA’s Food Programs, made up of the NOEP Program and the Beyond Hunger Emergency Food Pantry, work to ensure that no one in Brooklyn go hungry. The Food Pantry, in Partnership with United Way of NYC, Assembly member Rhoda Jacobs, NYS Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance, the Food Bank of NYC, and City Harvest, distributes a 3-day supply of 3 meals per day of nutritional food to CAMBA’s clients -as well as those referred to us by churches and other agencies– due to hunger or lack of funds for adequate food purchase. Services also include review of public benefits and assistance with applications, money management, nutritional education and referrals to social service programs and health care providers.

This pantry has been recently transformed into a Client Choice pantry; modeled after a regular grocery store, this structure allows people who are coming for emergency food to choose what food they need instead of receiving pre-packed bags of food. Only the fourth Client Choice Food Pantry in New York City, this marks the first Client Choice model at CAMBA. Given the demands of this style of operation, we have a need for a group of hard-working, dependable volunteers to assist with the day-to-day operation of the food pantry. The hours and days that we need assistance are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am-2pm. Our volunteer needs include but are not limited to: stocking the pantry, greeting and working with our clients, conducting food stamps outreach and assisting in maintaining the cleanliness of the pantry.
