Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Legacy Corporation (Legacy) is a major provider of educational and after-school programs to low income youth of New York City. Our primary purpose is to provide an outlet of educational and performing arts programs to cultivate youth and the students of the New York City Department of Education.

Legacy is now looking for passionate candidates willing to play an intricate role in development of our organization or as a development director. Candidates should be personally in tune and interested in making a positive impact on the lives of the teens and the children that need it most. Since 2008 hundreds of recreational programs have been cut in New York City Schools. Principals are forced to end programs due to budget cuts and the overall economic downturn affecting their schools. Youth are loosing out on the fun of a ballet, art, or dance program due to this and Legacy's mission is to make a change to this cycle.

We are looking for individuals with experience in: event planning, development, public relations, grant writing, grant research and fundraising or just grassroots getting the word out!

We are open to all creative and flexible candidates interested and we invite you to reply to this opportunity. Our organization has great ideas for the 2009- 2010 school year and development is a key to our goals.
